Dinner ft. Hello Kitty - FOODVENTURES 1

Today, Aug 6, after work I felt somewhat parched and hungry. I was walking around the usual spots and deciding between 雞排 (deep-fried chicken breast), 便當 (bento-box), or something else, from one of the places I frequent. I was craving something different, so I roamed the area, and found a bunch of different places, but I wasn't "feeling" any of them. So I kept roaming. I kept running into different groups of students, so I kind of wanted to leave the area. I don't know, it's a teacher thing... (I still love them!!!)

Coincidentally, as I approached the bus stop, the bus inched nearer and nearer. I didn't really want to go too far, but this was a sign. I hopped on and got off at the 捷運站 (MRT station). I didn't want to travel too far, so I stayed around the station, and again roamed around. I never really roamed around in the area, so it was fun!

I went to the bakery that I always went to at night (the buns wouldn't be as fresh at this point) and was delighted with what I found. There was even more to choose from and it smelt heavenly. I had to myself a custard and raisin bun, that I liberated before I could capture a photo of it. But that's okay, because look at what else I had there,
My date for the night.

This was just the pre-meal, the warm-up if you will. P.S. I prefer 香港/粵語蛋撻 (HongKong/Cantonese egg tarts) more.

Next to the bakery was old faithful, Mickey D's, Rotten Ronnie's, The Golden Arches, McDonald's. I walked past and noticed that they were having a Hello Kitty promotion, with special items. I figured, "I'm in Asia, I came here to try new things", and entered. Needless to say,
I swear I'm an adult.

Out of the two meal options, I choose the sandwich that was composed of a shrimp-burger with pineapple, coke, and fries. I think that its pretty cool, that I'm half-way around the world and the 薯條 (french fries) taste the exact same, kudos McDonald's! The burger/sandwich was interesting, and I feel like I can cross something off my metaphorical Asia-bucket list, but I wouldn't order it again. The picture looked a lot better than the actual, but I expected that from McDonald's, so no harm, no foul. Here's what the crazy thing looked like, with a bite taken from it so you can see what the patty was made of,
Gosh darn their marketing strategy and Hello Kitty! (Just joking, HK!) P.P.S. (is that right?) I felt like a Youtube-er documenting my meal.

But my night of FOODVENTURES did not stop there, and yes it HAS to be capitalized. On the walk home, I craved something cold and sweet, but I already had a tea earlier in the day (courtesy of my colleague - I just realized I don't know any of their names... we don't really talk, aside from good morning and byebye... and sometimes I leave because I'm awko-taco...). I digress, I returned to my turf, and, again, I roamed around. I stopped in one of the convenience marts and found something I've been meaning to have since I first got here,
A strawberry shortcake popsicle, the perfect ending to a long FOODVENTURE. :)

Satisfied-ly,
JC(3.14)
